Noted Disability Writer Receives Lifetime Recognition Award
At a recent event at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. , John M. Williams, a frequent contributor Independence Today, received an award for his decades of advocacy as a journalist and his tireless efforts to improve the lives of all people with disabilities.
In receiving the award Mr. Williams shed some tears. He was overwhelmed by the award. He said, “I can’t believe it. Wow! I feel humbled by the award and thank everyone here and Chet Cooper of Ability Magazine, Denise Figueroa of Independence Today, Business Week and the many, many publications who have honored me by running my articles on assistive technology and related disability issues.”
Williams has been working in the disability field since 1978.
Williams had organized a news makers event at the National Press Club titled ‘Driving Economic Growth Through Asssitive Tech and Workplace Inclusivity.”
